Pharmacology and Toxicology
Metronidazole has a strong antibacterial effect on most anaerobic bacteria, but has no effect on aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria. The antibacterial spectrum includes Bacteroides fragilis, and other Bacteroides, such as Clostridium, Clostridium aeruginosa, Eubacterium, Weirong coccus, Digestive coccus, and Digestive Streptococcus. Actinobacteria, Lactobacillus, and Propionibacterium are resistant to this product. Its killing concentration is slightly higher than the antibacterial concentration. This product can inhibit the redox reaction of amoeba protozoa and cause the nitrogen chain of the protozoa to break. In vitro experiments have shown that when the drug concentration is 1-2mg/L, amoeba histolyticus undergoes morphological changes within 6-20 hours and is completely killed within 24 hours. At a concentration of 0.2mg/L, amoeba histolyticus can be killed within 72 hours. This product has a powerful effect on killing trichomonas, but its mechanism is unknown. It has carcinogenic effects on certain animals
