Properties: This product is white or off-white fine crystalline powder, odorless.
This product is slightly soluble in ether, slightly soluble in ethanol or chloroform, and insoluble in water.
Identification: (1) Take about 25mg of this product, add 15ml of chloroform solution, and inspect under ultraviolet light (254nm), showing strong green fluorescence.
(2) Take about 5mg of this product, add 2ml of sulfuric acid to dissolve it, add 0.05ml of 0.5% potassium dichromate solution, it will appear dark blue and then fade to brownish green.
(3) Take this product, add a mixture of hydrochloric acid (1mol/L)-methanol (1:99) to make a 0.002% solution, and measure it by spectrophotometry (page 24, Appendix II of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, 1990 edition). There is maximum absorption outside the wavelength of 279 and 350nm, and the absorption is 0.69~0.74 and 0.56~0.60 respectively.
(4) The infrared light absorption spectrum of this product should be consistent with that of the mefenamic acid reference substance.
Role and use: anti-inflammatory and analgesic. Used for rheumatoid arthritis, headache, toothache and menstrual pain.
Usage and Dosage: Oral 0.5g once and 1.5g per day
Note: Use with caution for patients with gastric and duodenal ulcers, asthma and renal insufficiency, and should not be taken continuously for more than one week.
Storage: airtight and store in a dry place.
